Coolest Little Zoo

We have been living in Wellington for almost a year, but for some reason we never found the time to visit the Wellington Zoo in Newtown. Now that we are both off work for the holidays we planned a visit, made easier by a buy-one-get-one offer from the Absolutely Positively Wellington Advent Calendar. We felt we had pretty high expectations as I grew up with the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium and Seth has visited the San Diego zoo in the past. We can say with absolute certainty that Wellington Zoo is indeed the best little zoo in the world.   The trip was off to a wonderful start with the first animal on display being the little blue penguin. It's hard to compete with penguins, especially ones as cute as a little blue. The zoo only got progressively better as we moved on to the kiwi exhibit. 2014 in Review

2014 started off with a bang as we said goodbye to loved ones and moved to Wellington, New Zealand. Our brave Wednesday joined us in June after spending five months with Seth's parents. In July she was honoured as Pet Relocation's "Pet Move of the Month". In an effort to meet new people we joined circus classes, with Jess honing her hula hooping skills and Seth joining her for partner acrobatics.  To bring a little bit of Pittsburgh to Wellington, Jess decided to throw a Maker Party, a community event to promote creativity in technology among children of all ages. Maker Party Wellington comprised eight organisations and brought in 130 participants over the course of three hours. This one event led to new volunteer opportunities, friends, and an invitation and travel stipend from Mozilla for Jess to fly to London to participate in their annual conference.
