I just wanted to let all of my faithful readers know that I have not been eaten by seals. Many of you know that at the beginning of July my beloved laptop gave up the ghost after a complete hard-drive failure, right in the middle of a blog post no less. How rude! Thankfully I had noticed it's odd behavior and had all my information backed up, not thankfully, because Apple now requires OS installations to be made from the App store it was impossible to load Mac onto the new hard-drive. We could have paid an Apple authorized dealer to do the reinstall, but since this is a second hand machine anyway we determined that the cost simply wasn't worth it. I am now running Linux and have mostly adapted, though sometimes I find myself frustrated because a keyboard shortcut doesn't react the way I expected it to or my editing programme randomly decides to freeze on me in the middle of a project.
