free credit report.

We all know that there are websites out there that offer free credit reports, but did you know there is only one that is federally mandated?  Because of the Fair Credit Reporting Act each of the three nationwide consumer reporting companies are required, by law, to provide you with a copy of your credit report once every 12 months. Free of charge.  You can get all three reports at once, or periodically throughout the year, it's up to you.  Just head on over to annualcreditreport.com

Other sites may have catchy jingles or flashy commercials, but the majority of them are only free for a brief trial period and then they start charging.  And remember, they have all of your information which they can use however they see fit.  (The most popular company bills you $14.95 after a 7-day trial!)

So don't trust pirates who sell fish to tourists in t-shirts, go to annualcreditreport.com and get the real deal.
